Good Book to Help you to Save money too.

Since I am a "Book Person" more than a website person. I would suggest anyone who wants to learn to save money to read Carla Emery's book

"The Encyclopedia of Country Living" but, she does have a lot of links to websites in the book, some are outdated, but most of them work.

In this book she gives a lot of ideas on how you can save money from making a list of all your purchases you need to make at the store to how to save money on by making your own feed for your animals.

I always refer to this book at least once a week if not more. It has a lot of "old timey" recipes in it, some for Vegans and some for the rest of the world.

I also own the "Foxfire" series, without the cookbooks. I am looking into buying them to complete the set.

I figure that when the real Depression hits us again, and we all can't afford to burn our lights, if we even have any electricity, I can always read my books again and again, much like reading the Bible.

...and may the Lord bless us, with all we need. AMEN

We are still unpacking but the Carla Emery book is one of my all time favorites.  Along with the TWG, I bought a couple extra copies of each at thrift stores and keep them by the sofa, bed and even in the bathroom!  LOL  You are right excellent reading anytime..

Brianschef, I never thought of buying more than one. How smart you are!

I am waiting on my latest book purchase, the Foxfire Appalachian Cooking. I am also looking into buying the 12th volume of the set too. I am hooked on all the info these books have and how those folks did without because there was no other way to live.

I am interested in all they have to say. I especially liked the Carla Emery book for all the recipes and info she passed on to the readers, and how easy she made it all sound. I know that it wasn't easy for all she did, raising those kids without what the rest of the world thinks is a must have, and learning as she went daily thru her life.

We all could learn a lesson just by reading her book. JMHO anyway.

I bought my Carla Emery book online and paid less than $20.00 including S&H. I thought it was a good deal.

I have never seen one at any flea markets etc around here. I don't know if people around here just don't sell them or just don't buy them?

...and may the Lord bless us, with all we need. AMEN

Hey, now here's an idea, maybe we could have a book sub-forum and people could comment about the books they are reading.  What do you think?

That would be a good idea. That is why I posted this comment in this forum.

I guess we would have to start a new topic? One that stated the titles, and our comments about each book?

You could use the Site and Book Review forum for that and if there's enough interest I can create a subforum.
