What are you making now? I'm finishing up a pair of socks (for me!) and have a small needlepoint picture in progress. Since Christmas, I've made a hood/scarf combination, and a knitted vest which I still have to make pockets for. I have to slow down, though, I'm getting behind on my reading!

What are you  making or doing that's crafty right now?  

Finished a pair of socks yesterday, and finishing making panty shields today. Cheaper and softer than store bought. I have to wind the yarn into a ball to start another pair of socks, making these from KnitPicks dyable yarn, which comes in a hank instead of a ball. It is cheaper. It won't be dyed, just used natural white.

I'm starting little by little to re-furbish my Singer treadle and have been looking around web-sites for ideas for that. Mostly it just needs more good cleaning as it is in pretty good shape otherwise.  Also looking for attachments to fit it, as it has a back attached presser foot which is different than what most have. I thought I had it cleaned up as much as possible without rubbing off the decals, but have since learned that I can do even more with it. I've bid on attachments on e-bay but haven't won them. In reading the different web sites about the treadles and attachments I learned how Victorian era clothing and decorations were made with all their ruffles and laces and pintucks - they weren't done by hand, they were done on the sewing machine using different attachments. I would love to try that. E

 I am finishing a bustierre and thong set to sell for future income.  A local lingerie store is interested in buying my product and selling it to brides with their bridal collection.  I have a layette in a cowboy theme(boots and vest with bandana diaper cover and hat)blue and white I need to finish, about 3 more days.  And I found 2 Halloween vests that need to have the appliques sewn on and a few embelishments finished.  I am going to rebuild my gift closet this year with all home made hand crafted items.  : )  I am trying to use up my craft stock(mostly sewing and crochet) before I move on to buying new things.

I am also measuring my 4 piece section sofa to recover, not so sure I can do it, but ya never know!  lol

I looked at KnitPicks yarn just the other day with the same thought. Is it good yarn? I need some in colors, but not the variegated right now.

I thought about that one time... that's as far as I got. It looks like a very big project to me, but to pay someone else to do it is expensive. Let me know if you take the plunge!

Check with me next year, I am only now starting to look into it!  LOL  Mil does a beautiful job so I am hoping I can convince her to help me measure, design and execute.  We will see her again in June so I am also kinda hoping she will volunteer to make the cushions....we have a curved sectional that has the back pillows or cushions attached and the stuffing is getting so thin.  I am not so sure I can match the material, but it is a Steelcase sofa and in excellent shape.  I really dont want to sell it and figure if I can make/have made the cushions then I can keep the sofa for many years to come and make it usable for every day comfort.   The existing cushions' pillows are filled with the same beads as you would use in a bean bag chair, awful for support.  I can take the beads out easily thru a zippered seam but do not want to replace them I just want to replace the area/cushions altogether.

Mil has the same sofa they got from a landlady in CA 50 years ago this fall, she has recovered it 5 times now and it looks brand new.  She has also recovered all the sofas in the camper we are buying, a few lazyobys and stuffed rockers, over stuffed chairs, etc, as a side income.  Last year she made bluejean seat covers for all 4 of their vehicles.  They are gorgeous!

I need to meet your mil! I bought a couch about 15 years ago from an upholsterer. Someone had left it there to be reupholstered, then never came to pick it up. It had a nice floral pattern, but it was a light color and much too hard to keep clean (husband in the oil field, kids with animals, me with gardening, etc.), so I had it recovered in a simple vinyl. The vinyl is still in excellent condition, but I'd like to go back to cloth now. (You never sat on anything as cold as cold vinyl when the temperature is about 60 degrees inside and 10 below outside.) 

I don't know how old the couch is, but it has real carved wood legs in a sort of Early American style. I'm guessing it's about 75 years old. I'll never have to buy another one. They don't make them like that any more.

Hers sounds similar, it has straight carved short legs(no claw foot), straight padded back and 3 seat cushions.  Very 50's or 60's style.  I have sat on it and it is very stiff and supportive, what we are looking for.  This time she covered it in a navy blue velvet material with a small floral print.  Of course her home is decorated in a horse/ranch motif....per say.  Fil hates the country look so she is trying to get around it by adding small print things and material.  ; )  The arms have a piece of wood at the endcap that is carved out like the legs, and it appears to be a maple wood.  I really like it because it has a short base for short legged people, I can sit on it and my feet dont dangle without touching the floor.  lol

It is just a very nice piece of furniture we hope to inheirite!  lol

Gosh, with all you "big time" crafters I feel pretty humble! I am knitting white headbands for my daughter's Irish dance troop. Then this morning I learned there is a new baby in the family, so I will knit my standard little gnome toy for her, and a weighted eye mask for the mom. Very simple projects.

Oops! I forgot - I'm also making Valentines for my friends! I've made little pouches from old roll of pink flowered wallpaper, lined with tissue paper and "sewn" up the sides with ribbon. I paste a heart on the front, fill it with Dove chocolate hearts, and tie the ribbons at the top. It's a fun treat for my girlfriends and daughters.
