    Re: February Debt Check In

I am waiting for my husband to give me the tally on his recently financed work equipment. I thought I had the amount but I was incorrect.

I am not sure how to even view this in the whole debt tracking plan. The company is financing necessary equipment and deducts the payment from his pay. He is buying items he can not get on his own through them or getting a better deal than he could independently. Since he seems to prefer to pay one off before financing the next, I am debating putting this down as set expenses rather than normal debt.

I think I would move that to the job expenses column and expect it to work itself out. I wouldn't call it normal debt anyway.

Thanks for the feedback, Pat. We aren't changing our opinion on carrying debt. We just have too much that needs doing and not enough time to save up for it all.

Brandy- Is dh's bottom line going to improve in 2008 with the purchase of several items in 2007?  Would love to see you with more money in the budget for your household expenses with the upcoming move!   I know when I move, I love to have enough money to buy some little fresh things, a shower curtain, rugs, pillows for the couch-

Also, any big plans for the rebate?

    Re: February Debt Check In

     Tracy,

My husband got two raises since January with his promotions.  His income in 2008 should be double what it was in 2007. We expect his expenses to be higher this year.

What is currently financed: Signal meter- I jigged when the last one was paid off and I celebrated too soon! He got the cheapest meter that would do the job. I didn't follow the whys of it but his new territory is more advanced and requires an upgrade. He was able to trade his meter in for a discount on a used one which means an overall lower cost.

What he is ordering to be financed:

Ladder- I am not sure if this is on hold now since he said he ordered it to be financed but hasn't gotten it yet.

Tool- It's some prep tool whose name escapes me. I think the company has required these because everyone in his office has requested one. I am not sure that he is actually having this financed.

    Cash things: Climbing saddle

We also have two large items to replace this year..a truck and a laptop. It looks like he will need a new laptop every two years with the wear he puts on them. If he buys used vehicles, he likely will be replacing those every three years.

     Tracy,

Big plans for the rebate? Haven't you heard? I am buying bubble gum! Hehehe.

I initially assumed we would put it towards tax payments or savings. But with so many expenses being planned for already, I don't expect to really owe much in taxes if anything. I suppose it might end up going towards these expenses.

    My current debts:

    credit card ~ $1124

    mortgage ~ $38,730

I had to pay for the pet's vet visits this month so the credit card got exercised.  I plan to put it away until October when I have to pay for my vehicle taxes.  My goal is to have the stupid thing paid off by the end of the year.  I canceled premium cable and netflix so I'll have an extra $50 a month to put toward the bill.  I also have 12 working dates set aside at $50 a pop at least to help me pay for the stupid thing.
