Deb: Today (Wed., 1-24) I demo'd "Naturally Noni x2" and "Naturally Pomegranate", both nutritional supplement concentrates. Had to keep reminding parents that they were both concentrates and both nutritional supplements. Some let their small, very small, children have them anyway. Yesterday, I demo'd Horizon Organic vanilla and chocolate milk. They come in the little sippy-cup like containers that you poke a straw through - for children. The chocolate had 27 grams of sugar and the vanilla had 29 grams of sugar to 8 oz. of milk. The chocolate is especially popular with the kiddos. Either Mon. or Tues. I demo'd Tyson's Lightly breaded chicken breast tenderloins. These were pretty good - nutritionally and taste wise. We also demo clothes detergent, a food-saver, coffee, Kruteaz (spelling may not be correct!) lemon bars, pumpkin bread, Ghiradelli brownies, cookies (and more cookies), all kinds of ravioli, cheeses, health bars (most of which have tons of sugar in them!), and - I could go on for pages!!! Today, probably the best item we demo'd were some precooked meatballs. They were absolutely delicious! and all you do is heat them in the microwave. As product demonstrators we do taste the various products -- on our breaks mostly. Occasionally we taste test them before we go out on the floor - if the item we doesn't have to be cooked. (We have convection ovens, microwaves, electric skillets, and grills for cooking when we are out "on the floor". Quite a few of us are Costco members as well as product demonstrators in the store. So, sometimes we are our own best customers! ------ Probably the hardest thing for all of us is that any foods we have left over - unless it's a completely packaged food - has to be thrown away. Last year I had to throw away 4 packages of 6 each filet mignons. That is beyond my comprehension. The State of Texas Health Dept. has a very big hand in that nonsense. --- We work a 6 hour shift, which is actually 6-1/2 hrs. since we have a paid 30 min. lunch break. For me, it gives me an outlet for the energy I still have left. I'll be 67 y.o. in May. In our family, we don't usually start slowing down a lot until we are in our mid+ 70's. After retiring from working in an oil refinery warehouse for 18 years, I still had too much energy to just stop. Tried volunteer work and didn't like the way the "paid" people were so casual about what the volunteers time should be spent doing. Including at a public library. And I have been a public library fan since I found them in my pre-teens!! So back to work I went. My real dream is to have about 1 acre and have a garden and some chickens. That I hope to have by the end of next year.
I read a post where you were submitting articles (?) to magazines. THAT sounded like a really neat thing to be doing. How is that coming for you?
One other thing -- when I reread my posts (emails also!), I always find mistakes! I apologize for those mistakes - past, present, and future!!!
