Re: Check out Pat's Post on the Home Schooling thread
DO you know that Jewish first-born sons ARE consecrated unto G-d? There is a slpecial ceremony (Pidyon Haben) in which a bit of money is paid to redeem the baby spiritually, from service in the Temple as a priest. SO, your son who is so interested in Hebrew is indeed specially beloved by the L-rd. (The ceremony is also performed for 1st-born animals.) See Exodus 13:1-2, & Numbers 8:18 & 18:15-16. Re: Check out Pat's Post on the Home Schooling thread
That's beautiful. All male Jewish babies are circumscised on their 8th day (the pidyon haben is on the 31st day). In many congregations, a daughter is named in a ceremony. THe langauge that we use is that the parents should cause the child to grow up to be versed in Torah, to be wed, & to do good deeds. Yours in Him, Deb
