Have you noticed in your areas the larger grocery stores starting to carry a "dollar only" aisle?

Many of the larger stores here have been doing this for a while now. They realize that people really love the concept.

I live in a big city-Pittsburgh.  I have a Giant Eagle and  Shop-N-Save within 5 minutes of my home, and they both now have $1.00 aisles.  They also double coupons up to $.99, so that helps greatly.  I love Dollar Tree.  There are some other "Dollar stores" but don't have as much as Dollar Tree. The DT is also now selling food (including refrigerated products) You have to watch though sometimes grocery store is cheaper.  There is a Dollar General and Family Dollar nearby too.  Again sometimes they have good deals sometimes not. DH hates going with me to DT I spend too much time looking at everything.

I have not seen dollar aisles in the grocery stores here. They do a lot of sales of 10 for $10. Babs

No matter where  you shop, it's always a good idea to compare prices on grocery items. I always shop alone when I go to the dollar store (or anywhere else for that matter!). I love to browse so I just take my time.

Was at dollarama today for a birthday card, tissue paper, and a spatula but of course found other goodies!  Bought a couple of dvds that have 3 classic movies on them each like Father's Little Dividend. so bought 2 for gifts, plus a couple of great valentine puzzles for the kids. a couple of hearts filled with jelly beans so the kids are done for valentines day.  plus some pantyhose and oral b toothbrushes. so easy to spend money there.

Yes, it's easy to load up the cart when nothing's over a dollar but it sounds to me like you got some needed items, took care of valentine's day and got a couple of DVDs that can be put away and used as gifts later. I find that, a lot of times, if you don't nab things like those DVDs when you see them, they won't be there when you could really use them. I never really paid much attention to the DVD's at the dollarama because I figured they would all be movies no ones ever heard of before but Father's Little Dividend is a great movie. Is the movie you bought the one with Spencer Tracy?

Yes, I have learned to nab stuff like that because you know it will be gone.  I hadn't really been down that aisle before (always with the kids), they had a assorted of videos and dvds for kids and about 4 - 5 different dvds that had 3 movies each on them.  Not the most popular movies they did but still good ones.   all stars like Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Stewart, Ginger Rogers, Elizabeth Taylor etc. My inlaws don't really need anything and love movies so it is good for them.  Since my mil only sleeps about 5 hrs a night, she watches lots of movies!

After reading about these movie finds, I went to Dollarama here and bought a couple for myself. My husband and I like old movies too and are always thrilled when we can find one we haven't seen before. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, we went back to our old cable service provider just so we could get TCM. We love it!
