    Re: New Years Resolutions

Dear All, Here are my resoutions:

    1.  Lose another 5 lbs.  The medications I'm on make one GAIN weight -- 2-3 lbs annually.  In contrast, I have managed to LOSE 4-5 lbs over the last 11 months, small change I know, but it's a step in the right direction.

    2.  Not buying books until I've read them -- through Ingter-Library-Loan if necessary.

    3.  Not letting my work on articles & my book cause me to get so worked-up that I have to leave the projects in the lurch. (Something similar occurred four years ago.)

    4. So long as my doctor approves, wean myself away from needing aides.  I have already let go of AM help.  That is, I can now cook on the gas stove, wash up the dishes, & bathe unsupervised (I put my LifeLine very close to the tub (it's water-proof) so as not to tempt the Adversary.). All that I haven't dared to try is using a knife.  I have a "mandoline" for cutting, though, so have a way of slicing safely. My doctor wants a Certified Nursing Assistant to fill my meds tray for me, so I would only need aid for a couple of hours a week ....

Isn't the L-rd magnificent in His gifts!  Halleluah!

    5. Lose another 0.5" from my waist.  It is dangerous to be carrying 35" or more around the waist.  Well, I'm down to 35.5 now -- just an inch left to be solidly under the limittion to be healthy.

Angie, I've been wondering life with the new puppy is going? : )  Your 'to -do' list is daunting. I hope this doesn't come off as judgemental, as it isn't intended  to be...it just seems asking an awful lot of a mere mortal.

Deb, Congrats on your weight loss - 5 lbs. can be a whole pant size, is a big deal! I hope that you continue to regain your independence.

Feeling inspired this morning so here goes:

Track all expenses WITH my husband (the husband part is key, he is starting to feel a need to understand out finances)

    Pay off car loan

    Pay off all credit cards

Send out two book proposals to agents/publishers

Work out four times per week on way to work, walk 30 minutes at least 5 evening per week.

Work on house - repairs, upgrades, painting, creating garden

    Re: New Years Resolutions

I'm not setting any resolutions---my 22 year old daughter said it best. "I'm not doing resolutions just setting some goals for 2008."  Sounds less stressful than resolutions. Everyone have a safe and prosperous New Year.Smile

    Re: New Years Resolutions

Deborahmichelle - I have been coaching writers for the last 6 years...before that I actually wrote short stories and loved it. Now I want to work on getting some non-fiction books on writing published because the ebooks I've had published bring in a small passive income...which is an unbelievable bonus since I write the ebooks and month after month I get a trickle of an income.

I want to go mainstream and pitch my books to traditional publishers and just need to find the way to believe I can do this without collapsing in fear!!!!  I don't know if anyone else has this issue when it comes to following our dreams, but I struggle to believe in myself and writing the non-fiction book proposals for writers is one way I can crack that fear and work toward banishing it.

    peace,

    Pam

The new puppy, Lucy, is getting big!! And she's a little wild thing!! lol I don't think winter was the best time of year to get a new puppy, but we're managing. The kids take her out of the cage, and play with her for a couple hours each day, let her outside, and feed & water her. Once it starts getting warmer, we'll be able to let her outside for longer periods of time, etc. so she can get acclimated to our property.

And no, you're not being judgemental at all. I just need to get my house in order, my health in order, and our finances in order. I've come to the conclusion, on my own, that in order for the weight to come off, and the spending to cease, I really need to get the house together. It's stressful, which makes me depressed, etc. (I'm an emotional eater), and I just keep gaining. And of course to ease the pain of the weight gain, I usually go shopping. It's a vicious cycle, and I vow to end it in 2008!! It's not going to be easy, but if I take it one day at a time, I think I'll do well!! :)
