If you make up Christmas stockings for grown-ups in the family, here are a few items from the dollar store to consider:

socks

book lights

pocket planner or agenda

lip balm

wine bottle stoppers

small candles in novel shapes (i.e. candle shaped and scented like a chocolate bon bon)

calendar mouse pad

brand name sample-sized personal care items like body wash

DVD-R disks in case

chocolate bars

Scour the entire store for ideas. From the kitchen section to the hardware aisle, there are oodles of items in a dollar store that are useful and/or decorative.

A great list of items!  Here's some I found recently at Wal-Mart that I'm giving to my "big kids" (I think they were under $3 each). 

Novelty ink pens that included:

Tinkertoy Pen (a small set of real Tinkertoys inside the pen), Etch-a-Sketch, Connect Four (game), Lincoln Logs, and Yahtzee (game) 

Cute for "big kids" who would remember playing with those games/toys as kids.  Because of the small pieces, they are NOT appropriate for small children.

I like those ideas! Baby Boomers like things that remind them of their childhoods. My hubby and I watched "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" last night for the umpteenth time!

I went to Staples last night and they had a large display of .99 funky looking office supplies that you could color coodinate. I think stuff like highlighters, gel pens, binder clips, hand sanatizer, calculators, pencil shapeners and so on that they had in that sections would be great for anyone that works in an office, has a home office or anyone going to college.

We found these great sturdy steel? over the door hooks for stocking stuffers--my teen dd needs more easy hanging space that doesn't involve the complication of actually using a hanger, lol.   The hooks are available in a 2 hook hanger or in a 6 hook hanger AND the price is very very low.
