    Local News

The larger paper in our county tells us today that Mississippi Medicaid may have service cuts this year due to lack of funding.

    Medicaid Issues

Since we are a state that is low income and under insured, this would hurt many residents who rely on Medicaid to cover medical necessities.

We laughed when this week the newspaper said that the selectmen finally passed a nudity ban for the town. The temperature that day was 10*  This has been an ongoing problem all summer and fall. People from other states showing up to protest in the nude or kids riding their skateboards nude. People have been very upset. The others felt that a ban would take aways their rights. Now that it is cold, they decided to do something. Like anyone would be out nude in this weather!  Babs

Babs... wow Surprise... at least it was never dull there!

Around here, and I thought this was funny, a guy driving through the area got stuck in the snow (slid off the road). Well, the cops showed up to assist and asked for the driver's ID. The guy was put in the back of the squad car during the processing of the ID... found out he was wanted on a 2nd degree murder charge in another state. Surprise (using that face alot today) ... Guess it doesn't pay to kill and run into a snowbank! Big Smile

On a sad note here in Nebraska, the news is that a depressed 19 year old man killed himself and 8 others at an Omaha shopping mall yesterday. He used an assault rifle and randomly opened fire before killing himself. Very tragic and too close to home.

Brandy, It is just a statement on where the world is headed. Sad but true. Hopefully this ban will stick and help  Our town is a strange mix of old vermonters and 70's hippies. We were at one time known as the place part of the Chicago 7 hid out There were a lot of communes in this area. The influence continues in these peoples kids. Many ex addicts live here. Many have changed their lives. But the Liberals still think that they are in charge.  It is an ongoing struggle to promote moral values and G'd. The positive side of all of this......many organic farms, push for natural foods and personal independence from big business and government. We have very liberal homeschool regulations that date back to the hippie generation.  It is a strange mix. Babs

    Re: Local News

WE always have people out protesting something. the War in Iraq,  paying taxes, police using tasors, atomic power plant. The nude protesters were from PETA ( i think that is correct sp. ) protesting people wearing fur and animal rights. It was crazy. It was two tall pretty women. There was a car accident because some man was trying to see the naked girls and ran into the person in front of him. the funny thing was they were nude but held up a huge sign in front of them. And stood with their backs to a wall. It was stupid. Babs

Yes we have people protesting too but mostly one day things downtown or in politican's offices. The long term things like logging a certain area etc is where the welfare protesters hang out because they have the money to do it. mostly young and healthy.
