I found the Little Country Village long ago, and watched it evolve over the years, sometimes finding direction as I discovered new ways to save and live, sometimes finding inspiration to do it my way and sometimes just finding fuel for daydreams.
Not everyone is oriented toward a rural, slightly old fashioned, independent lifestyle, but if you are, this site should delight you. If you're not, you'll find things there to delight you anyway.
Pearl Sanborn has an upbeat, energetic outlook on life, with many, many interests, as the site shows. I had to ask if she had more, and she replied, "I love... natural building techniques, everything miniature - including plants, building with stone (I want to build our own stone garden cottage some day soon), fishing, singing, I'm a musician, building websites, marketing, fabric, anything that sparkles, Victorian/renaissance style jewelry, tapestry handbags, girly shoes, raising parrots, my favorite color - red, frogs, vivariums,
sky watching, English style movies (or English cozies as my librarian calls
them) live theatre, magazines, the forest..."
Being married to "the most wonderful man in the whole world," Pearl is mother to four children, all teenagers at this time. Her comment? "Life is never boring at our house, but we couldn't be happier!"
Her parting wisdom: "I wake up everyday thankful for the opportunity to
live my life. I am grateful to be able to enjoy so many things, and I'm
looking forward to discovering more things to enjoy,"
What a wonderful attitude.
What you'll find there:
Home decorating, garden ponds, cottage gardens, frugal living, recipes, a blog and something new, a section that's called A Storybook Life, which will eventually contain thousands of articles. Just the name has me looking forward to it, as Pearl does seem to live a story book life.
The most interesting thing I found:
A very low tech, almost fool proof way to build a solar oven, especially if you're in the country. It's at the bottom of this page.
