    Online surveys

I am wondering whether anyone in the forum are answering online surveys in return for money? I would be very interested in knowing about your experiences. Websites like surveytemple.com make it seem so lucrative, but I am sure that there has to be some sort of catch, no???

You can make a little money at surveys, but, no, they're not lucrative in the sense that places like surveytemple make them sound. You can sometimes get a good survey or focus group but certainly not often enough to make a living at. I've done surveys off and on for several years and twice I made $50 for about an hour's work. Of course, my profile may be different from yours, but there just aren't that many high paying surveys available. The ones that are, are very specialized (A certain health problem in a certain state at a certain age, etc.)

Whatever you do, don't pay anyone to find surveys. You can do it yourself through a search engine, or just ask here.

Pat's right, don't pay for information.

The only online survey site I've made actual cash from is MySurvey.com @ https://fun.mysurvey.com/join.cfm?rfv=29782863&l=12 It take a long while to save up enough points to get a check but I've received about $300 over the past few years.

If you're in San Francisco or close enough to be willing to come into the City for focus groups sign up for Fleishman Field Research, That's much faster money but it takes a physical presence, not just an online thing. http://www.ffrsf.com/joindb.htm There are others but I don't have experience with them

These are both good for extra cash occasionally but I don't believe anyone could make a living at it.

I make cash from MySurvey, PineCone Research, Viewpoint, and Buzzback. You won't get rich but the extra $10 - $15 comes in handy.

    Re: Online surveys

There was a thread about this and I contacted the lady and she emailed her survey links. I have signed up for a couple but most like mypoints etc is for Americans. it is for fun and pin money. globaltestmarket, angusreid, tns interactive canada plus a couple others. some have points, some survey dollars and most have entries for prize draws.   Consumer research panel, a company here that does focus groups for products pays the most. I did one for herbal tea and made $75. Hubby did one for a computer product (specialized) $150 and then they visited him at work for another survey related to it and he was paid $200 for a couple of hrs of time. Basically the more specialized the product they need qualified people for, the more money. Sometimes you get products like wine or pizza.  They send out emails or phone. Recently there was emails looking  for kids 8-12 for a survey for crackers. $35 for a couple of hrs. sent it to my friend who has a 10 yr old.  there should be ones in your areas.

I've had the best results from MySurvey, Pinecone and Opinion Outpost.  If you want to check up on a site, go over to www.surveypolice.com. They offer info, including complaints about a particular survey site.

Everyone else is right .. this is casual income. Many of these sites pay off in points ... when the points accumulate to a certain level, then you cash them in for money. One nice thing about MySurvey is that you get points for answering every survey. Most give you nothing if you don't meet the screening criteria.

I agree with everyone else - you can't make a living doing surveys.  My husband does a couple and has gotten $50 a couple of times from Global Test Market.  He did have enough points from one that when my blender died a couple of weeks ago he was able to cash in points and in 3 days my brand new blender was on my door step.  Like everything, it depends on what you want and expect.  I know blenders aren't expensive but at the time I know it wasn't in the budget either.
