    babs:
I have a backyard full of white birch logs. They are wonderful to start the wood stove. Babs

Maybe you could build a reindeer out of one and have it fly some of those logs over to me. LOL

My kids used to love hanging strings of popcorn and cranberries on the tree and all over the house. One bag of fresh cranberries, one batch of popcorn and a couple of hours of giggles made lots of cheap decorations and fun memories!

Christmas Oxymoron: What other time of year do we sit in front of a dead tree and eat candy out of our socks?

That's a GREAT idea, MEL! The grandsons will love it (except for the waiting to dry part). Wink

    Very good point Babs! Amen.

Totally! It's so easy to forget the whole point of the season. You don't need to do a lot of decorating but I think a bit of greenery, some Christmas candles and a tree add to the atmosphere. This is a celebration of the most important event in mankind's history. It's really not about how glam you can go or how many presents you can give or get.

I may have to try this one with my little boys, they are 3 & 5, I certainly need something to keep them occupied while it's cold outside (the high today is 28*F).  Thanks for the idea!

    http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf40836009.tip.html     greeting card finger puppets

This was from my thriftyfun newsletter!  A great idea to keep kids busy and recycle greeting cards, cut out animals etc, cut a strip from the back of the card to make a circle, glue together. simple
