    Tip for Swiffer Users

I made a discovery recently that I wanted to share with those of you who use the original Swiffer Sweeper...

I have been using old kitchen towels and pieces cut from large bath towels as reusable mopping pads. My towels have become too thin for good cleaning jobs and none of my bath towels are ready to be put into different service so I have been looking through things I can use. I found a bag of old diapers. The cheap pre-fold ones are thin enough to be fastened to the Swiffer and work well as a mop pad.  So if you have access to cloth diapers, this may be a solution to try, it's cheaper than buying the commercial pads.

I have done that but the diapers I used had to be very wet or they wouldn't slide over the tiles well. You can also knit a cover with the cotton yarn. there are patterns on the net but is it easy enough without them.

Do you have rough tiles? I have vinyl flooring that is designed to look like tiles so I can't say how they would work for various floor types but I can see how a rougher floor might catch at fibers on cloth diapers and even towel.

Do the regular Swiffer pads work well on your floor?

Thanks, Brandy.  I wondered if diapers would work well with the Swiffers.  I've used old washcloths before, but the diapers would be more absorbent.

no, just big tiles with unsealed grout inbetween so it has to been very wet. I think it is because the cotton doesn't glide as smooth as swiffer wipes, it grabs.

Thanks for explaining, My Family's Interests. Others with tile floor may need to consider this.

The only updating in the house since the 60' & 70's  was the kitchen and the bathroom floor plus they carpeted the lino though the rest of the house.  post war house so only wood floors in the living room and lino in the rest of the house. They used the tiles that I think are better on walls!  beige shiny and the kind that look dirty the minute after you clean, each hair, bit of dirt shows. they used the same tiles in the kitchen and bathroom.
