    Repurposing A Needlepoint Canvas

Some years ago Mom bought a painted canvas that featured martini glasses and pink elephants to stitch as a belt for my aunt who used to drink martinis by the pitcherful when she was the wife of an Army officer. My aunt and uncle had to entertain a great deal.  It's a really neat canvas and she got all the threads to stitch it.

My aunt is now mostly bedridden and no longer wears belts.

I believe that I'll buy myself a good looking pink straw hat for warm weather, This belt canvas would make a wonderful band for the hat I'm thinking of getting myself.

The other nice thing is that this canvas will give me a break from my other needlepoint projects. It'll be fun to stitch.

What a great idea, it makes me want to go and dig out my stash of "gonna do some day" canvases and see what is there.

    Nannayoyo,

If you lived near me, I'd invite you over for a potluck lunch and to stitch.

My organized friend has visions of me wearing the hat with this hatband to church. She says that I could get away with the pink elephants and martini glasses on a hatband to church. She did ask that I not wear that hatband on a hat to Mom's funeral when Mom dies, though.Wink Since Mom had quite a sense of humor once, she would chuckle if I wore that hatband on a hat at her funeral. Trust me, Mom would be so glad that I wasn't wearing leopard print slacks to her funeral !
