You know you're frugal when you have almost as many plastic baggies drying on the clotheseline, as you do socks;  you know it's catching when someone sidles up next to you in the pew at church and slips you a bag of yarn scraps whispering " I almost threw these away, and then I thought of you."

Hello There,  I have a zippered sock bag that I use in the wash to keep baby socks from disapearing. I have washed many other items including my rope style mophead in the zippered sock bag. The washing machine in my house is precious so we feel bad for you. Sorry you had to learn the hard way. I can't remember the exact name for my sock bag but it was purchased in the laundry isle at Walmart.  It is meant to put ladies bra and undies and delicates in the wash.

Re: You know You're Frugal When...

I had a good laugh at the lady who got the yarn scarps at church. I have a similar story.
I go to church with a lot of snootie folks who are not thrifty and don't understand it.
I was complimented on an outfit one day and the person asked where did I get it.

I quickly replied "It was a Gift", so as not to embarriss myself or the asker.

However, my thrifty girlfriend who shops with me, was with me at the time and was listening to the conversation and asked me later,
"why did you lie?" To this I replied, It was not a lie, it really was a gift. I count it as a gift from God that I am frugal. I count it as a gift from God that this Item wasnt plucked from the Goodwill thrift store before I got there. I count it as a gift, that some person in the world didnt use it that much and gave it as a GIFT to Goodwill that they might sell it to me for a tiny profit. I count it as a Gift and the small cost I paid to get it was simply the shipping and handling fee.

Ally and you were blessed to have the funds to pay for it. So it truly was a Gift. I like how you put it! Smile

Ground flax seed:  (bought at walmart has the measurements on the box)

    1 TBSP ground flax seed

add 3 TBS of water and mix.

It replaces one egg.  I use it for muffins/ brownies/ banana bread (all these already call for eggs so I substitiute for only one egg)

Dear Ally, I pray whenever I am about to buy anything, for judgment & vision in seeing the best value.  I completely agree with you that good buys are a gift from the L-rd (& need to be thanked to Him, too).

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him, bless His Name. (Psalm 100)

I asked my Pastor if I could have the used printer paper he was going to throw out.  I cut it into squares and shoved it into an old storage container.  I use it to take notes on the phone and it's FREE.

We use this, too, because we have food allergies in our family and cannot do eggs.

Another thing we use is applesauce in place of eggs.

That is amazing! Don't forget that you're also giving a gift to the earth for rescuing it from the landfill.
