That's funny because here you can go to Chinatown or the Asian supermarkets and buy chicken feet!  Chinese seem  to like to eat lots of them for some reason!

The Chinese tradition for getting chickens slaughtered is that tehy wait until the customer has selected one, & then they wring the poor bird's neck to kill it.  Enouh to become a vegetarian!

Well, that is not so different then not that many decades ago!  A few of the reg. posters regularly put up their own chickens as they call it!  I agree though...I am not blind about how my meat gets to my plate but I prefer not to think about it!

I think that you are very frugal by drying teabags and reuse them with about 4 at a time as a friend of mine does.

but the price of teabag here is so low that I am not doing that. I like a fresh pot of tea and for 4 cents a teabag and a kettle of hot water I enjoy the fresh.

or that apple gets shredded into pancake batter, washing my rynolds aluminum foil (my mom looks at me funny for that one) then after its been washed and used so many times, it lines the stove burners, then when its "gross" it goes into the recycle bin, raiding the newspaper recyle bin for comics (free wrapping paper) and coupons at the store, you walk always with your head down hoping to find coins, re using my rench fry oil a few tiems (this one disturbs frank, as long as he doesnt see it its ok) insisting on my nickle bag redemption every where, making dakotas detangler......when you wash and save your speggetti jars (the classico brand is best because the labels come off nicely)

You know you're frugal  when you save the cotton out of your vitamin bottles and use it. You know you're frugal when you sons have a marker fight in their Sunday shirts and when Dad says you're gonna have to pay for those so ask mom how much they cost and you say 15 cents.......  You know you're frugal when you don't buy anything too feminine well hardly anything until you have your third daughter, that way they can be used 3x plus rotating with your friends who have children in sizes in between your children's sizes.  When you return all the white clothing items that were given to you at a baby shower because you didn't have washing machine, and knew you'd be using the laundry mat just for washing, not for drying and white gets so dirty so you'll avoid buying extra bleach and stain removers.  You know you're frugal when you drive a car that leaks ( in Oregon) that has a cracked windshield and has to be push started, plus the driver's side door won't open unless you roll down the window and open from the outside, but you drive it till it drops cause it's paid for.  You know you're frugal when your rentals are nicer than your home.  You know you're frugal when you live in an old farm house, that has one bathroom for ten people ( with a poor septic system) and 4 bedrooms but the rent is ridiculously cheap.  You know you're frugal when you choose a freezer over replacing the tiny fridge you have because you need the freezer for all your great cheap deals.   You know you're frugal because you make homemade soap but only hand soap because you can sell it for $1 a bar and it only costs  10 cents to make but laundry soap only costs $3.99 a bucket and  you'd rather use your time to make the hand soap to use yourself, give as gifts and resell..... plus it comes in such nice yellow buckets for storing things, using in the garden, mopping up, etc.

Re: You know You're Frugal When...

You know you're frugal when you watch the weather forecast every day hoping it's going to rain so that you can park your truck in the driveway and get the bird's "target practice" off instead of paying to have the truck washed or using your own water to wash it.
