Just thought of one. I sometimes reuse envelopes, just patch them up, but if I don't have one, I make one from a sheet of printer paper and scotch tape. I've never had a bill payment rejected for it yet. LOL

I feel frugal when....I find a new way of doing something that is practical and saves money.  I tend to analyze my spending habits and go after areas where I can save a decent amount.  I do this at work as well and have spent the past couple of years paring down office expenses.  I love finding some way to shave a couple of hundred $ per year out of a budget.  I also enjoy buying something "new" at a yard sale for a fraction of the store cost.  Those are the things that make me feel most frugal.

    Hmm...

When someone comes over, you make an excuse to go to the bathroom right away, because it was yellow and you were letting it mellow (saving flushes).

You have figured out the "cost per ounce" of a product, so you know what is truly the best buy, but while you are in the store, you double-check, just in case.

You play a game to see how late into autumn you can go without turning on the heat (I made it to December 21st once - in Michigan).

You ask your thrifty friends to explain about darning, because you cannot bear to throw away perfectly good clothing that has a couple of tiny holes in it. (grin!)

There are more... I just can't think of them now.

Instead of recycling cans of soda you save them to make a buck

You use half less laundry detergent

I use the excuse.... I'm my homeland we do it this way to save money (my cultural background "and" my frugal ways)

I use ground flax seed and water measurements instead of an egg in muffins and cakes.

Carmina - how much ground flax seed and water do you use instead of the egg?

And I guess you know you're frugal when you ask for specifics about another person's frugality Big Smile

You know you're frugal when you cook something when the house is cool, then turn the burner off and warm your hands over the fading heat, hoping it stays hot just a little longer...

    You know you're frugal when...

You spend the summer gathering wood from discarded pallets at work...cutting and stacking to burn.  Dh got a table saw free and uses it to cut the wood we burn over the winter.

I also keep the excess boxes of ads from work to use to start the wood burner if the fire goes out in the night.

    You know you're frugal when...

Dinner consists of mgr special (bought near expiration, divided into 2 meals rather than 1) and lots of fresh inseason produce!

How Low Can You Go?  is in reference to your electric bill not the game Limbo.

You hone your skills to buy needed items new for 1.50 or less....CLEARANCE

You "repurpose" a small wooden crate into a toilet paper holder rather than spend the $$ on a roller that won't stay in the wall anyway.

Your idea of decorating is to incorporate rocks into every room of the house...hehehe  true story!

I'll add more if I think of any later.

I am not behind! I don't have to catch up! I just have to put on my shoes and shine when I smile my sink!!
