    Homemade Milkshakes

I treated myself to an early Christmas present. I never replaced my blender after it broke so we have gone awhile without one. Today I picked one up. I don't have any of my milkshake recipes anymore so I looked for some online.

Thought I would share one I found: Best milkshake recipes

Does anyone have any other recipes to add?

I didn't even know there were recipes for milkshakes, I've just been making them up without one.  Thanks for the link Brandy!

I make malteds kind of following the recipe on the label of the malt container, but I put in more ice cream than it calls for to make it thicker. You can put almost anything in a shake or malted for flavoring. I use vanilla ice cream, the add hot chocolate mix, strawberry jam, fresh bananas, or whatever's on hand.

I couldn't remember the ratios for milk and ice cream and other ingredients.

I made chocolate chip cookie dough shakes using that flavor of ice cream.

I usually put a couple of scoops of ice cream per shake and then enough milk to make the ice cream just float, then I put in chocolate syrup till it looks like enough.  Scientific method, huh? Stick out tongue

     Pat,

Where do you get malted milk? I've tried Carnation, but it's not the same as the Horlick's I want and grew up with - that's just not available any more. Do you use a different kind - and if it's Carnation is it "The Original" or the ones usually on the shelves?

I've never seen anything but Carnation malt. It comes in a plastic jar in the baking section of the grocery store. I don't know if that's the original or not.

Pat, sounds as if you're getting something other than what's in my store. The Carnation there is in cardboard, and isn't a baking ingredient.Yours soundslike just malt, not a drink powder. Plain malt is what I want. I'll search further.

Yes, what I get is plain malt, not a drink mix. I hope you find it locally. It seems to be in almost every grocery store here, even at Save a Lot
