    Article on new "frugalites"

    http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/news/0911/gallery.Extreme_Savers/index.html

I thought this was an interesting article. Some of the interviewees were already practicing their frugal trades/habits before the recession but the others have become creative and found ways to save more money.

I think it's cool when people can find ways to make money when others would just sit and wring their hands, wondering what to do. It's the "can do" attitude that made America what it is to begin with.

I think we see more and more people doing this .

we have someone call or come by every day about wood either to buy or sell  we do both ..

People come by for apples . honey and want to buy eggs .

    life is changing

Thanks for sharing that!    The story about the lady who goes fishing reminded me ... I was at a state park in Florida a few years ago (before the economy hit the fan) and noticed that the piers were crowded with folks fishing.  Entire families were out there ... I always figured they were getting their food for the week.

When the job I have ends (it's contract work) I can see myself doing stuff like that - hitting the yard sales that are very popular around here and reselling on Ebay or Craigslist. By choosing only small stuff I could even hit the yard sales on the 50 mpg motorcycle and not a car. Small stuff is also cheaper/easier to ship to the buyer.

A number of people do that to supplement their regular incomes or retirement incomes, and it's something interesting to do.

Heard recently of a guy who was purchasing appliances cheap at garage sales and storage auctions, cleaning them, and selling them in Atlanta Craigslist. Another woman here purchased only high-end clean baby and children's clothing, and made good money at the local flea market and on eBay. Another is purchasing cargo trailers, repainting them, and selling them, but at higher prices than a new one from Harbor Freight!
