Foods that will win the war and how to cook them (almost a century old!)

I just found the text of a book, published during the first world war, about how to save on food. Full of recipes and ideas. Perhaps sometimes a bit oldfashioned, but fun and worth looking through it!

I've read just the first few pages and I think it's a fabulous read already!  I can't wait to sit down later and read through some more!

Gayla, I agree!!!   I've "lost" whole days reading their cookbooks, or "receipts".  If anyone is not familar with Gutenberg, it's a FREE book site.  I've read all of their pioneer type ones.....some by authors you've never heard of.........and many famous ones.  I believe the entire Jane Austin series is on on there....anyway if you get some free time, it's well worth checking out.

This is great! I love this kind of thing as a piece of history and glimpse into what life was like then. I bookmarked it and look forwad to reading it.
