Do You Make Cheese Straws or Cheese Wafers ?

Do you make cheese straws ?

The local gourmet shop sells them 8 ounces for $6.99.

I was thinking that if I made up cheese wafers and froze them, I could enjoy them at home.

These are so easy to make and they taste so much better than store bought, and the cost is much less too!  I have both baked and dough in my freezer.  The dough is better in my opinion, you can take it out, slice off rounds and they bake up in no time, for fresh-hot-from-the-oven treats.  As often as you make soups,I think this would be nice go-along for them.

Do you put chopped pecans in yours ?

    I love sharp cheddar cheese.

I thought that they would be cheaper to make than buying them.

I remember them back before Mom married my step-father. Someone made them when we lived with my maternal grandmother. I don't know if Mom made them or if my grandmother made them.

There is method to my madness. If I keep things like cheese straws at home, I don't miss the expensive places Mom and I used to go to before Mom's health declined.

Would you mind posting your recipe in the recipe section? I've never made them, (don't often eat them) but looked up a couple of recipes and they look easy. They'd be good for holiday gatherings.

Posted the recipe in the recipe section, along with a couple of variations (red or black pepper, powdered mustard, Rice Krispy or chopped nut).  They are very easy to make and they freeze well.  So easy to take a roll from the freezer, slice a few and bake them as your soup is reheating.

    Thanks so very much.

I make the ones with Rice Krispies, but I have never made the other kind.

My cleaning woman is "making" me become a "perfect" hostess by keeping a clean house and neat things to nibble on if I have company.

Back before popcorn was forbidden for me by my dentist, I could offer microwave popcorn to people. I have thousands of dollars worth of dental work in my mouth. I have 4 crowns and it would cost a fortune to replace them.
