The thing is that I don't usually fry food!  In the first instance, I prefer my meats baked.  Secondly, our children have been involved in competitive swimming for several years.  Fried food is NOT high on the list of things the coach likes his swimmers to do.   The fried fish was supposed to be a rare treat for the kids.

During the course of my two visits to the ER, I learned that my blood pressure is sky high - basically, the ER doctor put me on a 6 week regimen of lifestyle changes.  Hopefully, the changes will lower the b.p. or I'll be put on blood pressure meds.  I thought I was taking care of myself - apparently I have to step up my exercise, and watch my food intake even more closely.

Now that there is a diagnosis of hypertension, there's even less incentive to eat junky, greasy foods.

    Timagain,

Do you have a history of high BP?  Being in pain WILL drive your BP up (old ER Nurse) and just being in the ER or around doctors and hospitals could trigger what is called "White Coat Syndrome".  If I were you I would take your BP everyday for the next 6 weeks (both arms if you can) around the same time everyday.  Keep a record of it.  You can keep up with it this way and will show a much more true, overall picture of your pressure than during visits in the ER!  Keep up with this and do the lifestyle changes and take the record with you when you see your doctor.  Good luck!

Thanks for your input.  I had been diagnosed before, got it under control and now it's back up again.  To be truthful, I am generally under a lot of stress (separate and distinct from pain and ER visits) so I'm not at all surprised. I will probably buy a BP monitor today

Oil burns are so painful!  Keep the area moist with some kind of salve; that will greatly minimize scarring and give the skin a chance to return to normal. I got that same burn back in Sept., frying fish. When I tried to turn it, it "plopped" instead of turned, splashing oil all over my hand. I kept neosporin on it for days and now there is only a slight discolored spot. I do this will all injuries, and so far since doing this none have scarred.  Wish I had known that when I was younger.

I hope you will do well, and heal quickly.

Fried King prawns, huge size, will be the most expensive home cooked dinner. Sorry to hear about the mishap.
