Hello, everyone,

I have found several bugs in my place. They don't bite, just crawl up a wall or window. They are black with a little red striping on top (one on each side), a red triangle in the head. About 1/8" long. They look as though they should be flying, but they don't.

Anyone know what they could be?

 That sounds like a firefly, or lightning bug to me.  There have been a few inside my house lately too, just like the ladybugs.  I think they're trying to find a warm place to go.

 No, not lightening bugs, they're much too big for that. Any other guesses?

 I just Googled it and found it. Ugh, it an eastern Boxelder bug. They apparently infest outside and gather in houses when it gets cold. The article said that once they are in the walls, there is nothing to get rid of them. Cutting down boxelders will help, but to my knowledge there are none of them anywhere near me.

could be a jumper type bug they are brown or black like that they go in a house alot...

Thank you for link. I did read it, and it seems as though I am stuck with them for the winter.

I've no idea where the outside infestation is, My windows are pretty tight, as the place was weatherized recently, but I do have cats that come and go in the decent weather, so door is open most of the time.

I have had this problem every year and tried chemical killers in the past without luck.  This year, I used soapy water (a table spoon of dish soap in a spary bottle of water).  Seems to have worked pretty well - and the house got a good clean.  Just make sure to hose the house off at the end of the day.

I don't think I would try this on the inside. 

These bugs get into the siding and can survive the winter.  I guess I will see how effective the soapy water was next fall.
