    Re: homeschooling vs publicschooling

I hope you do great on your paper!  I homeschooled four of my five DS.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  They all opted for homeschooling with the exception of my oldest.  When I started to homeschool, I did not feel confident enough to take him out and school as he was in the 10th grade.  The four I taught at home have all gone on to college without any problems.

I personally get upset when a family homeschools and does not take it seriously.  I felt that I was responsible for making sure that they could provide for themselves and their future family.  I think that if you are not willing to give it 100% then don't do it.  It is a disservice to the children.

It is hard to make drastic changes when they are close to finishing school. There isn't as much time to backtrack and cover what may be needed to lead up to new materials or methods and older children often have more trouble adjusting to change. I am sure this is even more so when making the switch from public to homeschool.

I think both are fine as long as a good job is done.   bad public school or bad homeschooling both would not benefit the child.    I am lucky to have a good public school but if I felt I had to homeschool I would.   lucky too that we have alternative programs for high school for students with problems.   because I couldn't teach lots of high school courses!
