Homemade pancake syrup

    Homemade pancake syrup

    I made it last week.  It was runny, not as thick as the store bought.  I wonder if it needs to cool down before serving?  I viewed recipes only that call for cron syrup.  I imagine that it would thicken it but I wouldn't want to use it if I don;t already have it at home.  Antoher recipe called for corn starch (another thickener).  What recipes do you use?  Should I use anything else besides : water, sugar, vanilla and mapeline?

    pancake syrup with out corn syrup .

    boil 1 cup granulated sugar

    1 cup  brown sugar 

    3/4 cup of water  ( you can add up to 1/4 cup additional if needed)

    stir in 1 tablespoon butter  and 1/2 Maple flavoring  or vanilla  . 

     taste

     this makes a really good syrup

     I, too, have made syrup that comes out a little thinner than I like.  Can't wait to try this!

    I suspect that this could be adapted as a sugar-free recipe.  Sugar free maple syrups are expensive!
