    'Rotisserie' chicken recipe?

I would love to make these at home like they have in the stores.  They've gotten so expensive lately!

My dd works at WM and will bring one home at the end of the evening if they've marked them down and they're so versatile. I'm hoping someone can help me with a recipe...Liz.

    DELI-ROASTED CHICKEN (slow cooker)

    Spray olive oil
    Whole chicken
    Lawry's seasoned salt ( I use generic)
    Aluminum foil

Clean chicken inside and out. Spray with olive oil spray. Sprinkle with Lawry's. Spray inside of crock with spray.  Note: Do not put any water in the crock. Roll some wads of aluminum foil into balls and put them in the bottom of the crock. The chicken is going to sit on these. Put chicken back side down in crock on top of aluminum balls. Cook on High (will not come out the same on low), 4-6 hours.

Note: the person who gave me this recipe said you had to use the aluminum to get the deli taste. I didn't believe it then, but boy do I now! This chicken tasted very close to one you would buy, precooked, in the deli section of your supermarket. Now before you pooh..pooh..this one, give it a try

I'll give it a try.  I've had plenty of crock-pot chickens and they've always been falling-apart good, but more steamed than rotisseried.  I can see where cooking it up off the bottom of the crock may help, along with the high heat.  Thanks for the post, I'm pulling one out of the freezer now...Liz.

when I make this chicken  I use myo seasoning salt

this is a no salt seasoning I use . Great on chicken , pork , beef .. I put in stew and soup generally all around use.

    5 teaspoons onion powder

    1 tablespoon garlic powder

    1 tablespoon paprika

    1 tablespoon dry mustard

    1 teaspoon dried thyme

    1/2 teaspoon pepper

    1/2 teaspoon celery seed

Combine all ingredients in a small jar with a shaker top.

This one has salt it the most like Lawry's and I do use it sparingly the other I have in a shaker jar on the table for use

    4 tablespoons salt

    4 teaspoons sugar

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1/2 teaspoon turmeric

    1/2 teaspoon onion powder

    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

Combine all ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place.

Thanks for those, too.  I was thinking of trying some lemon pepper on mine, but I'll keep these for future reference...Liz

Oh Wow, Gayla! I made this chicken tonight for supper. Yummy!!

I just seasoned the chicken with salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash, paprika, and onion powder.

It had a great flavor, but it was so easy to carve! In fact, I got the bones so clean that there's no meat left...at all! That never happened before when I made a chicken in the slow cooker...it had that steamed flavor and the meat clung more to the bones, as a PP noted.

Thanks for the hint! Yes (Although if you keep giving me good recipes, I'm gonna have to grease my hips to go through the door!)

Gayla...Thanks so much for the recipe.  I made it last night (first time ever using a crockpot) and it was delicious.  It was so moist and the drippings were so flavorful.    I made chicken salad with the leftovers today.  What a good meal!
