I found the best deal on sheets at a Macy's after Christmas sale a few years ago.  600 thread count for $13.99...and DH and I found some at Wal-Mart at an after Christmas sale last year.  I think they were 200, though.  None where holiday related.  

I believe there was an article on the stretcher a LONG time ago about when to buy what...such as office supplies in March, Whites and linens in January...

White sales (linens) are usually in January, but lately I've seen more ads for out of season sales.  Also, if you can get some Bed Bath & Beyond coupons, they will let you use up to 3 at a time, 20% off of one item for each coupon.  They also have a pretty good clearance rack for out of season sheets, especially if you're not too picky about the colors.

Sunday my cleaner found me some brand new (Mom got them prior to her stroke) sheets and a mattress pad.

Now I can afford to wait until the White Sale !
