    Introducing...me!

     Hi Stretchers!

I've been lurking for a few weeks in your forum and have been enjoying reading your posts. I'm looking forward to contributing to the helpfulness and friendliness of the forum.

I'm 26, single, and have no kids. I live with two roommates so my housing expenses are very reasonable (and it keeps me from being lonely - cheap entertainment). I don't make much money, but the only debt I have is student loan debt from a bachelor's degree in English.  I'm applying to graduate school this Fall, and am wondering if I'm crazy to take on more student loan debt, lol.

My #1 frugal area that needs improvement is eating out. I do it far too much because I like the variety and don't like dirty dishes. I share a tiny freezer with my roommates, so freezing a variety of meals is out (I do freeze the last serving of a meal if I just can't face it one last time before the leftovers go bad). No place to fit a bigger freezer in our apartment.

    Have a good night,

    Nicole

Welcome!  Maybe it's me, but don't most college students eat out a lot?  My friends & I did and my hips don't lie!  LOL  Have you thought about talking to your roomies about each of you cooking just 1 night a week.  I know it's not much, but if each person took on 1 night and made it a meal that each of you could eat twice, then that would cover 6 nights of meals.  And it doesn't have to be the same thing.  If one person puts a roast on one night, it could be turned into pulled beef sandwiches the second night you ate it.  It would only take maybe a 10 or 15 minute planning session each week to make sure everyone wasn't cooking the same main course -- chicken for 6 nights?  LOL  No thank you!

Just a thought!  Welcome to the DS Forums!

Welcome to the community! My daughter is your age and just moved into an apartment by herself last spring after living with roommates for several years. She's happy, but there's quite a difference in expenses!
