No Spend Days... October 5 thru 9th

That is a Monday thru friday.   Bills don't count!  No stores, no garage sales, no shopping online, no fast food, no dining out, no cash out!

Posting early so we can prepare and be ready. See you Monday!  Are ya in?

Count me in.  We've had a lot of expenses here lately and I'm really looking forward to a few no spend days.

I'm in too!   We are going to Walmart/Target this weekend for a couple things - DD and DH both need a thermos for their lunchboxes and DS needs big boy undies - the 3 pairs aren't cutting it with potty training - LOL!   I have enough food and will get gas tomorrow.   We are planning to go to supper on Thursday night after dance though - DH hasn't been to DD's new class so we are planning a little family night out.   But it's budgeted for and I have a $10 off coupon for The 99.   The only other thing I might want to do is take advantage of loss leaders but no major grocery shopping for me next week.

I'm proud of how I did last week and I think it helped the checkbook a lot.

    Totally in!  And motivated too!

Good idea to start it on Monday because I do have a couple of errands to run this weekend (Costco for a few items and DD's halloween costume is on sale till Sunday).  Then I should be good to go!

I told DH about this and asked him to help me out.  I'm not really counting him as he doesn't spend much, I do all the household spending except sometimes when I ask him to pick up milk on his way home or something.  BUT he has gotten pretty bad about buying lunch since starting his new job.  Tough as he is on the road a lot and it's harder to pack his lunch than before when he never left his office.  But, it's definitely costing too much!  He said he will help where he can.  Also, I asked him to try to not tempt me with weekend takeout (both of our downfalls!).

My goal is to have money LEFT OVER at the end of this pay period-even if it's just $5!

Dawn, it totally helps the checkbook.  It makes it easier to balance and I am so proud when the statement is not 4 pages long!  ;-)

Jenn, its gotta be hard to travel and save money at the same time!   Hopefully work pays for most of it.  If not, have him sneak off to the  El Pollo Loco Value menu, its awesome.  That is our treat!  Oh... Jenn, what are you baking with thyme ( I read in other thread), I am growing some and would like to make something with it.  Start an Herb garden in a bucket!

okay, see all you ladies and no spenders next week!

I will post my shopping this weekend in the October shopping and cooking thread.

    Hi all,

I'm in too.  After the errands I need to do tomorrow, I would love to have some No Spend days.

    Good luck to everyone.

Jenn, what are you baking with thyme

Parmesan Thyme Crackers . . . want the recipe??  Yummy with a glass of wine!  From Ina Garten Back to Basics Cookbook (Barefoot Contessa-I love her!)

1 stick unsalted butter, 4 oz grated (not shredded) parmesan, 1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme leaves, 1/2 teas kosher or sea salt (reduce this if using salted butter), 1/2 teas ground black pepper, 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour.

Cream butter in a mixer for 1 minute.  With mixer on low speed, add parmesan, thyme, salt, & pepper.  After that's combined add the flour and combine until mixture is large crumbles (about 1 min).  If dough is too dry, add 1 teas water.  Dump dough onto floured board, press into ball, then roll into a 9 inch log.  Wrap in plastic, refrigerate for min 30 minutes and up to 4 days (or freeze for up to 6 months).  After dough is chilled, cut the log into 3/8 inch (or so) thick round slices and back at 350 for 20-22 mints until very lightly browned.  (These bake best on parchment paper but not required, can just spray pan, they'll be browner on the bottom though).

Didn't have time to go to the store, using dried thyme.  Which means today turned out to be a no spend day for me!
