Im in control of my life again!

I just wanted to say IM A CHANGED MAN!  haha -- My wife convinced me to go with her to this seminar deal and we heard from a lady named Manisha Thakor.  She spoke about financial independence and financial security, "how to make this recession work for you".  I was a little leary of the whole thing at first because she is a financial expert for Women and of corse that is not what i am, but it was really one of the more motivating and helpfull things ive heard. anyway ive started reading her bookes and i am definatly an advocate of her ideas.  So anyway im posting this for two reasons 1.  I think you should check it out because im getting tired of all the hoopla about the economy and not enough people trying to just work through it and 2. I have a weird motivational speaker fedish and i wonder if anyone has any other people/websites for me to look at?  Thanks for reading   Big Smile

I don't know of anyone off the top of my head, but my exhusband and I went to one locally several years ago. Didn't change him one bit. Wink

I remember that she advised using the library for books instead of buying them, then went on to tell about the librarians knowing her because she always forgot to return the books and always owed a fine. Not very smart, in my opinion.

    Defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

This is one reason that I began buying books instead of continuing to use the library. I couldn't be sure I would get to return them and ended up owing fines.

Yes, it does. It makes me wonder how many things we do like that without thinking. I'm going to have to start paying closer attention.

AH, but even when I don't return a book, I owe maybe 40 cents--if I'm awful a dollar per book and don't have to store the book in my house. Still cheaper than paying 20 dollars for a book.

It is easy to forget to return a library book, which led me to jot due dates into my daily planner. It works for me.

One of the reasons I don't use the library is getting the books back on time.  I always did, but I had that nagging worry in my head of needing to get them back.  If I own my books, I can reach for them when I want, and do what I want with them, like highlight areas that are important for future reference. Almost all of my books are DIY type books, cookbooks, needlework, etc., so get many uses for the money I put into them.  Only rarely do I buy a hardcover novel, in fact, I've only bought 2 in my lifetime that I can remember, because they were books I knew I'd read more than once, and wanted to keep around.  Edey

Yes, it's still cheaper than buying a book new or even used, in most cases. But it's still more expensive than if you'd just return it on time. Pennies turn into dollars quickly.
