New on here and to ebt

hi, I'm new here and new to ebt. I love in South Florida,  I lost my job in 07 while I was pregnant with my 2nd child.   We recently applied and we're approved for ebt.  I am not sure about what I can or can not buy. I wanted to know if I could buy organic milk, food and produce with it.  I was just wondering.

    thanks..

Deborahmichelle and others should be along soon and be able to tell you more about what you can buy. Meantime, if you'll go to the list of topics in this forum, you'll see some food stamp threads that might give you some ideas.

    Welcome, by the way! Smile

Hello and welcome!  I wish I could help you with the EBT stuff, but I think someone who is currently using it or has used it should give guidence.  Please feel free to read through the Gov't & Charity Assistance area though to get started.

Sorry, my dear AnaMercy, that Ididn't have time to get on teh Forum yesterday afternoon, & left you holding!

You can defiitely buy organic food with SNAP (Supplementall Nutrition Assistance Plan)/Food Stamps EBT (Electrooonic Benefits Transactions).  I do it all the time.  It's easier to define what you can buy by what you CAN'T:  you can't buy pet food, paper products like TP, paper towels, plastic products like garbage bags, cleaning products, over-the-counter medications.  You also can't buy in most markets hot prepared foods froom the deli -- some markets do allow this.  You can buy in all markets that I've heard of cold prepared foods form the deli.

Joiin us on this Food Stamps forum any tiime you have a question, or just to hang out!  And, WELCOOOOME to our Community -- what I call the Frugality Forum!
