Dear Cinnamonhuskies,
I am so sorry to hear what happened to your son. I also have a son with severe dyslexia. He is by no means stupid. I have been on the board of our home school co-op for 7 years. We have a rule in our school that each class should have 3 moms in each class room. I have always talked to all three moms in each of ds classes to explain his learning style to each of the other moms. We did have a situation come up where my ds was accused of cheating off of his sisters paper. Dear sister went balistic and came and got me. I talked to that mom and explained again the situation and that she owed my ds a private and a public apology and then she was taken off as the lead teacher and another teacher took over the next class. This was not my decision alone this was decided by the board after talking to the other teachers and finding out this was not a first time offense for the lead teacher. That teacher soon decided that our co-op was not for her and she left. Protecting my ds is MY # 1 job. He was very upset that day, but he did beautifully under the teaching skills of the new lead teacher. We always have 3 parent from 3 diff. families so that their is always a witness that can tell what happened. We even have this rule for all of our teen/youth get togethers. It also protects the teachers from he/she says type situations
