Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
I got my hair done but she didn't use enough horror spray aka hair spray. On the other hand, it is very, very humid and no spray would hold up. I got my pedicure and manicure. I don't know the name of the polish, but it is one of the new fall colors by Opi. I love having polished toe nails. I don't chip the polish on my toes the way I do if we polish my finger nails. I get my finger nails buffed and shaped monthly. I don't know what all happens to my finger nails, but they look shiny and nice. It is heavenly to get the massage with both the pedicure and the manicure. If I could bottle it (the feeling) and put it in a pump bottle I would buy 2 big bottles....1 for me and 1 for my hairdresser.
Aurora was glad to see me when I got back home. That little cat has me wrapped around her little paws.

Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
I am alive still... had a bad flare-up on Monday... I was "joking" that I was in so much pain that it hurt to wear clothes, but it was that bad (I overdid it Sunday night ... dishes, vacuuming, 3 loads of laundry and changing my sheets). Went to doctor on Tuesday... now on Lyrica for the fibro, will be seeing if it does anything. On very low dose and the doctor is letting me take control of what I do beyond that. (25mg right now at bedtime; most patients are doing like 50mg 2x a day). The only complaint I have on it so far is the cost... but if it helps, I won't care. One of the side-effects is weight gain and right now I am not needing that. I have chosen to wait and see... if it does cause that, I will be using an OTC drug to help that (Alli) which my doc has Ok'd. Wednesday I met with the job placement specialist ... he took me to pick up an application. I am dropping it off later this morning to him so he can channel it right to help me out. It sounds like a good job. Doing front desk duties at a hotel on weekends. I put down that I am available Fri-Sun from 10a-12mid. Hopefully this will work out. After he dropped me off at my car, I went to my friends and used his speaker phone where I spent 1hr 40min on a que for hearing about my application for state health care... which is still pending/processing. I applied 2 months ago and not sure when that is going to be finalized and approved. Argh...government stuff!
Today I also have construction guys coming in for the weatherization stuff. If I have oomph, might bake some zuchinni and banana bread. It's been humid out (oh we did get rain!!) so I broke down and turned on the AC.
Will probably write more later... but that is what is going on here so far.

Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
VNW - my dds took me to a fancy salon to get a pedicure once for my birthday and my hideous feet looked wonderful for months! My nails stayed nicely painted for a looong time. It WAS heavenly. Oh if that feeling could be bottled up....I work 2 jobs today, then home to kick back I guess. The house is a disaster. I keep wanting to clean it but get too tired or too distracted (or maybe just don't want to do the actual work). DD1 is 23 today. Got her a gift card at Mood, the fabric store they use in the show Project Runway (or did - when they were in NYC) since she's a design student at Parsons. Today is payday. Woo hoo. We got the boat to the boat place (I hope i am not being too technical here, lol) and found out that we don't have to pay until they work is done and we pick it up to bring it home (we store it in the back yard for the winter to save some money) so we may not have to put the cost on a credit card as the work won't be done for a few weeks. whew!!! Today i am going to somehow let the mom I work 2 days a week for know that I am available ALL the time...in the hopes she will have me work more often. Last time I mentioned this I got two weekend nights and one extra day in a two week period. So maybe just mentioning it makes her think of me first when she needs a someone. : 0

Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
Probably won't be a stretchy or happy day today. Bailey has reached the point she can barely walk, and she's basically been trapped in the basement since last night because she can't manage the stairs and she's too weak to walk up the hill to come in the front door. I'll be trying to get her into the vet as early as possible today, but I don't know if there's anything they can do or if she'll be coming back home. I'm hoping there's something they can do for her. Called DH last night to let him know, since she's been his dog since she was 8 weeks old. I called FIL last night to see if he could come over today to help me get her in the truck to take to the vet. I'm working from home today since the vet's office is here in town and work is nearly 20 miles away. Other than that, trying to act like everything is normal. Breakfast was cereal and half a banana. Lunch is a sandwich, veggies and the other half of the banana. Dinner will be the last chicken breast from the other night and some pasta and sauce. I hope everyone has a good day today. Jill

Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
Yesterday dh stopped by Aldi's on his way home from work to grab some meat for my omlets & salads. While he was there he noticed they had marked down waffle ice cream cones, fudge topping and balogna to $.50 each. He grabbed 2 boxes of ice cream cones, 3 jars of fudge topping and 4 pks of balogney. Even with only one upstairs and the rest in the patry I don't expect these to last too long; the ice cream cones will be gone in three weeks the fudge topping will last a couple months and the baloney is in the freezer so that might make it to next spring. Also yesterday I decieded to splurge a little and spoil myself I got a free Taste of Home Magazine in the mail with their current offer of 1 yr subscription for $10. I enjoy the magazine and have all but 2 cookbooks so $10 for a year really isn't that bad of a price and one I can easily afford.
Today should be a no spend day I'll be cleaning the dining room top to bottom including the mountain of paper on the computer desk and the pile of clutter on the dining room table. I noticed yesterday that the dog's starting to smelly skunky again at night he's been on his chain everytime he goes out and there's been no sign of the skunk in or near the trap so I know it's not a fresh dose. This afternoon while the dining room floor is drying I'll mix up another batch of skunk stuff and give him a bath using that and flea shampoo. Speaking of fleas I was reading somewhere online that you can use Borax to kill fleas but couldn't find the recipe for it, has anyone here ever used Borax to kill fleas and if so how much Borax & water do you use?
It's supposed to be a little cooler today than it was so, depending on my mood later, supper might be something that takes a while to cook like oven baked chicken or something quick and easy like fried baloney sandwiches.

Dear Jill, I am so sorry to hear about Bailey! If I get Jackie as my Service Dog, she is likely to develop arthritis as a Mini Poodle who already has had slippped kkneecappppppps (patella Luxate). An idea that I read in a list-serv is to carry a small dog (she's 9 lbs) in a baby sling. With pain meds, tht shooould be adequate to give her a normal lllife. But I get teh iiimpression that Bailey is a medium or big dog ...... Love in Him, Deb
Dear Luvd_Lioness, How can you use Alli with its well-kknown GI effect when you have IBS????? Love in Hiim, Deb
Dear All, Some follks were 1st inllline to see Jackie, the Mini Poodle at Pets Unlimited. They had their appt with their kids yesterday evenign. If htey weren't approved for adoption, tehn Ana (my Trainer) & I get to walk & evaluate Jackie. I don't kkkknow, even if I am approved, whether I could takee her home today, as she is newly from surgery ....
I aaalso see my personal physician, Peter, this AM.
Yours in Him, Deb
Proud trainer of Heart, a black female Miniature Poodle, as a Psychiatric Service Dog Enter His gates with thanksgiving, His courts with praise; give thanks to Him, bless His Name. (Psalm 100) Yours in thrift, Deb

Something I would be ok with going through, but I'm only looking at Alli ~if~ I get the side effect of weight gain from the Lyrica (if I respond well to it), so it's a last resort kind of thing. I'm going to start this week/weekend tearing down more wallpaper border in what will be my yoga-studio. I'm getting excited about thinking of getting the paint. So I will be starting to use other forms to lose weight. I'm hoping all things fall together so you can get Jackie.. she's adorable!

Re: Thursday September 24 $$$ Stretching
Jillibean, sorry to hear about Bailey. Its is always so hard at the end
Deb you must be so excited to be so close to getting Heart.
nothing too exciting this week. no van so walked everywhere yesterday except for the ride from moms group to the mall from a friend. ds was tired, up early. we had california rolls for lunch and I dropped my friends avons order off. we went to safeway for some specials sweet and salty bars/fruit snacks on sale with airmile rewards. plus smuckers jam buy two (on sale) get free jif pb 1kg jar. so got grape jelly the only thing the kids eat.
phoned my accountant about getting a ruling from rev. canada about declaring homestay income. most don't because they don't think they have too and a lot of accts said you don't. the idea being you don't make money but no one would be doing it if you didn't make money. anywhere from $500 to $800 per student a month so if you had two that can be $1400 a month. don't see the govt passing up on that money. if you have to declare daycare money you earn why not homestay money. people don't like it when i say you have too. my acct is very educated so I trust him. I met him when he was doing my boss business accounting.
dropped ds off then home. put everything away downstairs and bought a bunch of things upstairs for the snack bowl/lunches. granola bars etc and some cereal. we had the meet the teacher bbq last night. that was a waste of money. the classrooms were locked. just ate and the teachers walked around talking to parents if they were there. talked to dd teacher about the same things I tried too last week where she cut me off. so not wasting money next year.
today ds & I will come home after walking dd to school. some housework and then fil will pick us up to go get my van. hopefully not too bad. dh is not too happy but he knows to shut his mouth about it. all the things getting fixed I have been complaining about for months. so if he didn't fix it, tough. not wrecking the van or get into an accident because of it. after the starter issue forget it. I like my old mechanic. they know what they are doing and they are nice and don't do anything that doesn't need doing.
the mechanic said i needed a tranny service but that can wait a couple of months but I said if it needs to be done in the next 6mths do it now. I rather head into winter with everything done. brakes dh can look at.
then physio for the first time in a month. need it. $45 out. when ds is in kindergarten. thinking about a different special at safeway that gives you airmile rewards. I only buy things I use up.
hot this week and dh has a work vender function tonight so just the kids and I for dinner. don't know what yet. something easy. maybe breakfast for dinner. dd has brownies tonight. near the inlaws so may visit tonight when she is in brownies.
have a good day all!
