    Pear Budget

It's online budgeting software.  Anyone ever use it or know anyone who has?  What did you/they think?  I'm not computer savvy by any stretch so programs like Quicken or Books intimidate me.  Plus we don't even currently own them, so even if I wanted to try and learn them better I'd have to buy them.  I've tried making a spreadsheet, can't even really pull that off.

I went through the program real quick (I love budgeting software) and it seems extremely easy to use and update.  I have almost the exact same budget as this one using Google’s free spreadsheet program.  This is definitely less complicated and more user friendly then what I made (but not much more).  I especially like that if you over spent in a category your total in that category comes out red.  It looks like you can also look back through previous months to see how well you stayed on track and can create or delete categories fairly easily.  I would check that this is a reputable site and that they use a secure method of payment (in the least have a url that starts with https:// instead of http:// when you get to the page that you enter in your payment information).  I would give this site 7 out of 10 only because 1. it cost money and 2. if you add in a category for one month it goes back and adds that to the previous months’ budgets as well. For instance, let’s say you have to pay off a lawyer in the next 6 months.  If you add the category “lawyer” to October’s budget then the program goes back and adds the lawyer category to all of the previous months’ budgets which you did not need a lawyer category for.  There might be a way around this but I didn’t see one.  Good luck!
