No-sew Rag Rug

I "repurposed" dd's flannel nighties (she's smaller than me, so I can't wear them) into "new" flannel pillowcases for the entire family. I ended up being able to make 2 out of each gown (Lanz 100 % cotton) and in total, made 9 (odd one was a thrift store nightie that was too narrow to make more than one. I have new dusting rags as well) cases for nothing (the bulk of my thread is inherited from older relatives breaking up their homes).

The cost of a set of flannel cases was $10-$20. I have over 4 new sets so our flannel sheets are extended for yet another winter (keep the house cool at night). The old cases were turned into Swiffer and dusting rags.

That is good ctmomof4 at least you got a plan there thats what it sounds like..   Me I am starting to cruze the thrift shop time to get old afgans and to buy them I use every inch of the blankets to remake new ones sell them or just to give away this year or to get old shirts that are on sale and make pillow covers for my ratty pillows right now they look like they need to thrown away I don't trash them they are to be used again and time to break out my machine and the sewing box to make hot pads for the deli again Im not blowing money on how expensive those suckers are you can use old jeans for that... Kowing cindy she is half way down sewing old fashioned curtains by hand for the bathroom at her and moms house.

 okay, this is another record cheapo use-what-you've-got....i recovered my old square potholders (made from sewing scrap and old mattress cover padding a million years ago!) with kitchen towels to match the kitchen!

Orphan socks are also really great for Pin cushions!  Stuff really full.  With elastic they can be one for your wrist --  great for holiday socks so your pin cushion 'celebrates' with your decor.
