    Hello from Holland

    Answer

    Hello,

For a long time I check the website of Dollar Stretcher every week and now I think it would be fun to join the forum.

I am a 35 year old stay at home mum( for the time) We, hubby, son and myself, are living in the country in the north of Holland. We live in a small but very nice house in a small village with 400 inhabitants. My husband works a more than fulltime job and is usually only at home at the weekends. I spend my days with working in the house and garden.

On Dollar Stretcher I like to read your stories because some things are totally different as we do here in Europe. Like food. Sometimes you talk about things wich are not even available here but also there a lot of things which are very common here and you hever heard about.

Well I hope to have a lot of fun and also that I can help some other people or that other people can help me.

My English may not always be perfect but I still hope that you can understand what I mean.

    Re: Hello from Holland

Thanx everybody for the warm welcome. I would love to share things with you all. Some of the reactions are really fun and it is amazing how many of you have family of friends in this little country. Love the word of Brianschef in Dutch. I think she has family from Holland that moved from here a long time ago. But her Dutch is still very good. Most of you mentioned Amsterdam as a nice city to be. Well, I usually go to Amsterdam only once a year. Most times to find some christmas presents. But after a day of shopping I am always glad te be back in the train home. Amsterdam is so crowded...

I also liked to hear from some of you coming from Canada. Last time I was there was 6 years ago to visit my cousin's wedding. I stayed in Vancouver BC and Victoria on Vancouver Island. Once I visited the USA , Salt Lake City. Still hope to visit again, but you know how things go, money can only be spend once and usually there are other priorities.

Last time I visited I brought home some kitchen utensils for my friends. I don't know how they are named but the are used to moisten the meat in the oven. It's a long plastic thing with a rubber top so you can suck the gravy out of the pan and moisten the top on the meat by pouring the gravy over it. We had very much fun of that thing because here in Holland they use a similar thing to.......inseminate cows hihi....
