    Looking for rug shampooer

    Question from a reader:

I am looking for a rug shampooer that only has two brushes at the bottom.
You don't put water it it any where. Where can I find this at a low price?
Does anyone know where she can find one?

I remember these. My mom had one when we were kids and we used it to scrub the linoleum floors. The only place I have ever seen these is at thrift stores. They are from a by gone era. I have never seen a "updated" system like this before.

I had one of these about 30 yrs ago.  Haven't seen one since.  I loaned it to my sil and she loaned it to her sil and it came back to me with the brush attachments stripped.  Didn't evenhave enough respect  to tell me .  I couldnt find replacement , so had to buy another shampooer.

haven't seen though for ages. maybe thrift store or use an not electric carpet sweeper or clean broom?

frankly I find electric carpet shampooers don't last. we bought an upright hoover on sale and it is broken after maybe 10 uses. out of warranty.  died when I went to rinse the carpet.   my mom is always buying older ones from thrift stores because they last. the old style tub ones.   she uses it alot because of her cats.   I find once I lend it out then it seems to die faster.

I have a Bissell carpet shampooer that I bought refurbished on Overstock.com 6 or 7 years ago. I don't think there ever was anything wrong with it. Whoever returned it probably just bought it to clean their carpets and returned it. It still works. It's been having a problem where the detergent won't feed out of the holder any more, but I can get around that by putting vinegar in the hot water tank. It still does an excellent job cleaning.

I'd have to agree about lending it out. I lent mine out to our friends down the street and the detergent feed problem started after that.

that seems to be my problem though I lent it to responsible friends.  it won't spray water or anything anymore.  of course this happened after I shampooed and was going for the water/vinegar rinse.   but no carpet upstairs anymore and I will get a carpet service in downstairs one day.  I like a professional clean once in a while.  Citrus O was great.  natural orange cleaners. they got stains out that I couldn't when I had them in a couple of years ago to do upstairs and the couch.
