mostly kraft smooth pb. god forbid I buy chunky, natural or no sugar!  I grew up on natural pb and survived but dh didn't so since he and dd are the pb eaters...

it is on sale often but of course I want the best sale!  We won't go though as much because school is starting and dd will not be able to eat it much because no pb at school.

    We've settled on Jif.

I bought a jar of jif smooth out of the discount buggy and dh didn't say anything until the jar was almost empty, that thankfully it was almost gone.  don't know tastes the same to me!

I've been stocking up on sugar this past week. We don't use as much as we used to when the kids were home, but I let the amount we had in the pantry nearly run out, so it is time. DH has been listening to the European news, & told me that sugar is on the brink of a huge price increase - bad weather at the wrong time in the sugar producing areas of the world, so I figured now was the time. Besides, I had coupons for $8.50 off my next purchase from the gluten-free nut bars he likes, so I stocked up on those while they were on sale, picked up the back-to-school coupons for the grandkids, & used the $8.50 coupons twice on sugar! I honestly don't use that much sugar. I buy discounted bakery items mostly and we have so many parties etc that lack of cake is not a problem!   2 birthday parties this week alone.

I will past the info on to the inlaws because mil sister bakes alot!

Thanks for the tip! I do make quite a bit of food from scratch that calls for sugar besides being coffee drinkers here. I have a stock of it but I think I will add to it.

I agree that Aldi is the store to buy canned veggies for about 50-cents. There are enough good choices in the store to keep me happy.

I have started to run low on some stocked items.  I can't believe it has been almost a year since I started.  I need to check the expiration dates on the soups, ect.  When we have a few extra bucks, we will add to the stash!

Re: Running Low on Stashed Items

I let my stockpile die back for the summer.  I will let it go down to 2-3 cans of each item.  Towards the end of summer I will start working on building back my supply for winter 8-12 cans of each item.  We don't get huge amounts of bad weather here but the few times we have DH has been thankful for the TP and the variety of canned veggies.  I will also buy juices and sodas for the winter in the event of illness.  Even if both DH and I got sick the kids could manage nicely.

We try to add something to the stash every week, even if it's only a jar of peanut butter.  This really helps even out the ups and downs.
