I was having such a great year for tomatoes, after having several bad years. About a week ago, my plants seemed to die overnight - they got all grey and wilted. Maybe this is the blight that I've been hearing about. Anyhow, I have a few in a different part of the yard that are still hanging on (now that I have a taste for a BLT). Was able to can much more than I did last year. So overall, its been a successful tomato year.
Since I've canned these tomatoes, and since they have since died - should I be concerned about eating the stuff I canned? I am very careful when I can and follow the instructions religiously. But if I canned tomatoes that were infected but not showing symptoms yet - should I not eat them?
