    To deal with flabby crackers?

In this humidity, my crackers and pretzels turn to rubber, even though I keep them in a cannister. I've only to open it for a minute or two to have them start to sag.

Anyone know of something I can put in the cannister to take out the moisture and restore them to crisp? I tried making a little packet of rice in a paper towel, but it didn't work.

I have put pretzels in a warm oven to get them crunchy again. Should work with crackers to I think.

    Until we Newf again....

Thanks, Newf. But I don't have an oven, just a small micro. The micro doesn't seem to do anything but make them funny. That's why I wondered about some sort of dessicant.

Does anyone know whether freezing crackers, chips, etc BEFORE they get "flabby" or "stale" would work, or would that only make it worse?  I am single and it takes me a while to finish these foods and I HATE wasting them...

You can buy food safe desiccants, but I don't know how much they cost; they may not be worth it. One thing that might help is to store the food in air tight containers. Best would be glass jars with a rubberized ring inside it, like pickle jar lids have.
