    babs:
Such a blessing. So now I have to do more apples.

I picked the leftovers from 3 trees offered on freecycle & came home with 5 boxes of 3 types: Golden Delicious, a few Red Delicious, and a LOT of mystery apples - large, green, with a red or red/yellow blush.  Looks like a Granny Smith, but doesn't taste like one - - maybe a Candy crisp?  They have all been frosted, & I can't process 5 boxes fast enough, so I dropped 2 boxes worth at the Relief Society President's house for her to share with the neighbors who are out of work or otherwise financially stressed.  DH will take a couple of bags of apples for the college student who works for him part-time, & for another student who will use them.  I will rpocess the rest for DH & I, & for oldest DD witht he grandbabies. Feeling very blessed.

I haven't put by much b/c we just moved here and don't garden yet.  I did manage to harvest 1 of my pumpkins from halloween and if I remember correctly I have 12 bags with 2 cups each of puree.  I have another pumpkin to harvest, but it will have to wait as I hurt my shoulder doing the first one.  I also have my 13 cups of shredded zukes in the freezer.  I will alternate with shredded zukes, pumpkin, and frozen bananas to keep us in quickbreads throughout the winter months.  Some zucchini and some pumpkin may be used in main dishes; we like zucchini added to our pasta sauce and I saw a recipe for pumpkin black bean soup I want to try at some point.
The whole point of turkey is to get to the pie.

Yes, I make spaghetti sauce, but if I run out of time I just put them in bags and put in the freezer until I have time. Just pureeing the whole tomatoes saves a lot of room, but I've been busy with other projects. DH is going hunting tomorrow, so I'd better get busy on the tomatoes. I am planning on canning a bunch of the sauce, so we will have room for the deer. We're down to just the two of us. Our son is moving today and all the girls are already gone. One in England, one in San Francisco, and one in Minot, ND.

Sure.  I think maybe I will add it to next week's menu plan.  I need a pantry challenge and that would be a good meal for me to use.

Worked on the apples yesterday & processed about half of the apples I kept.  They are wormy & the Golden Delicious apples are small, so it is somewhat labor intensive for the finished product.  Free food is still free food.  Last night I processed 5 quarts of chunky applesauce, 6 pints of chunky applesauce, 3 quarts of sliced apples & one last pint of tomato sauce.  The "mystery apples" that I think are Candy Crisps make beautiful sliced apples, tho - they don't darken hardly at all.
