I'm really excited! We have a household of 2. Right now, the only thing running gas is the water heater.

We take reasonable showers & rarely use the bath. We run the dishwasher 1x a week. We wash our clothes on cold.

Comparably, when I had different roommates w/ a household of 3, our bill was upwards of $100 (guessing over 50ccf of gas used)--same house. There were always fights about the gas bill as one of them took the longest showers of anyone I have ever known--so much so that we would run out of hot water. Even though dbf & I take consequetive showers often---we have never come close to running out of hot water!

I feel very vindacated by this bill & I'm happy that our efforts are paying off! The bill was $11.62 & $10of that was a "customer charge".

It's nice when you can lower a utility bill. Congrats.

I'm going to set a challenge for myself after seeing your number. I just checked my last bill (my gas and electric are combined) had 7 ccf of gas. I do have central air and a gas water heater and the sucker of them all, the gas stove/oven. It's just me. My AC has been off now (I did turn it on while I was on my recent trip since the humidity was not nice). I have used my oven and stove since. Showers are not hot since it's summer ... 

We'll see if  I can get it lower.   Will not pay attention to the #'s when winter comes as much. I am in WI which can be interesting...

 My stove/range is electric :-(

Have u thought of making your own solar oven? If I had any sunny area on my property, I would make one!

Cook in crockpots/toaster ovens in the garage or porch. It will keep your house cool + save your gas costs. I know it may seem like your robbing Peter (gas) only to pay Paul (electric), but in our area electric is cheaper than gas.

No chance at a solar oven. The only good sunny spot is in the front of my place and being a condo, I think it would be a touchy subject (there's only 6 units but still).

I do use my toaster oven a lot... this next month won't be good though, since I was baking my lean cuisine meals vs. microwaving (feeling dropsy and didn't want to risk it dropping from the microwave).

I'll be keeping it in the back of my mind... since I know that I'll be about 8ccf for awhile. oh well...
