Do you know what's in your checking account?

I'm not sure which one to vote for. I know pretty much what's in mine, but not to the penny.

I'm the same way Pat. I check mine and compare what I spent to online balance. I keep that number in my head always rounding down.

I don't know mine to the penny but I do keep a paper register and compare with what I have online. The two don't exactly match.

We know down to the dollar but we don't include the added interest. DH is the checkbook wizard.

I check several times a week, always keeping on idea of how much is there. Being as we do more debit then check writing except for paying bills, it would be easy to get off on the balance if not done that way.  Edey

I don't write many chqs so I don't keep a register anymore.   I check my account online.   Most bills go though dh acct so I just worried about mine.   Since I am the only one that uses the account I don't have to worry about the balance.

I know the dollar amount and round down.  Don't use the account much now that we're in IN and the IN bank is just gettin' started.

Yes.  I balance it weekly, and keep a running total in between balances.

Re: Do you know what's in your checking account?

Back when I used to write checks for everything, I was fanatical about keeping my register to the penny.  Now, I only write three checks per month; one to church and the other two for bills that don't offer online bill pay.  Everything else is paid online and those items pretty much show up right away, so I try to keep a cushion in the account and don't stress over it.  I check my account several times a week, so I would spot any unusual charge pretty quickly.
