Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
I don't know what's gottten into Aurora for the past two days. She's wanted to be held and cuddled a lot. If I didn't know better I'd think that she ws trying to make up with me for all her pouting because I've been away from home. She has the softest feeling fur. I really do love her a lot, but she's so different in personality from my beloved Tigger.
I ate the ribs today. They tasted so much better than the $20 rib dinners I had in the past. Harris Teeter has them all the time, according to the guy in the deli. I love finding the $10.99 ribs on sale for $6.99..
I watched tv today.
I slept in today.
It rained here today.
Monday I'm having supper at Red Robin with my friend.

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
It's cool this morning and raining. I work all day, then will head straight home to tackle more writing. I have suddenly sold quite a few books on Half.com after several months of no nibbles. It's only a bit of change but right now I'm happy to accept the money, lol. (these are used books - unfortunately we have so many because we used to buy all our books instead of going to the library). I have decided to stop drinking - it is a problem for me. so any good thoughts on this change you can send me will help keep me focused. I am looking forward to DD2 going back to college at the end of next month, lol. This weekend she decided that she and her bf were going to rent a house to live in until they go back to college. WHAT? Where will they find a place they can afford AND that will rent for two months? After about four hours of fighting over it (dd and bf fussing) they decided not to go ahead with their plan, lol. But she comes up with stuff like this every few days - she decided she wanted to become a bartender because they make so much in tips. so she has spent so much time and energy applying for these jobs....but she has no experience and her one waitressing attempt lasted less than ONE hour. Goofy kid! So, yes, once she heads back to school it will give me a break from her brilliant ideas....she's a sweetheart but wants so desperately to be 100 percent independent and taking care of herself, and is impatient for her future to begin. Meanwhile dh and I live in the moment which drives dd mad, lol. Time to get ready for my day. peace.

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
Should be a pretty stretchy day today. Brought my lunch and packed DD as well. Have to take DD to library today so I have to take a couple hours off of vacation time for that. I don't mind, I can sit in the libary and do my project in a nice quiet place.
I took out some burgers, chicke and some leftovers, so not sure which we are having for dinner. maybe the burgers.
I can bring the left overs for lunch tomorrow or whatever. I have some aspar., potatoes, squash for the veggies for the rest of the week. I don't think I am going to need to go into week to until amost week three!

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
Should be reasonably stretchy today. No money out except $60 for chiro for 2 visits this week. Today is the first day back at work after vacation. Took more than 2 hours just to catch up on the e-mail. Other than that not too busy. Breakfast was breakfast casserole, lunch is a leftover hamburger, salad and pineapple. Dinner will be spaghetti and probably salad. We're getting low on grab-and-go leftovers. DH spent time yesterday getting his bikes into shape. He plans to ride his bikes to get into shape before we go to Yellowstone at the end of August. There's a hike we want to do when we're there, but neither of us is in good enough shape for a hike that long. So we've got some time to get in shape, but not a lot.
Hopefully everyone has a better day today than yesterday! Jill

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
Have started a pot of refried beans on a quick soak and will transfer them to the crockpot soon for tonight's dinner-bean burritos. Doubling for the freezer! They will come in handy after I have the baby. My goal is to make at least 3 meals per week for the freezer, trying to be a little prepared!
I do have to spend money today unfortunately . . . got DD's bed yesterday, now need bedding. Going to Target for it. You forget all the things that you need to go with the bed-mattress pad, bed skirt, etc. Adds up!! I also realized that she will need a dresser (kind of forgot that part!). Going to check out Target as well to see what they have. Need to pick up a few other things while there-milk, soap, razors, etc.
Otherwise, staying home today, continuing with cleaning. We got SO MUCH done yesterday, lots of stuff organized and put away! Love it! Now need to clean the kitchen floor and the upstairs bathrooms. Will break it down a little at a time, shouldn't be doing too much now.
Will also make bread today and do some work this afternoon. Let the kids swim this morning after we go to Target. We will probably all take a nap too! Love the freedom of summer!

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
so nice and cool! clouded over and suppose to rain. dh picked a bunch of cherries last night after mowing the lawn. I split it between, us, my mom and mil. and some for work. picked a pint of raspberries for the freezer. lots more to pick. our student is in heaven because cherries are an import in Taiwan so they don't get them alot. very expensive.
dh is off but the kids still going to my mom while I work because he needs to get stuff done working around the house/garage. dh went to the dump yesterday and is finishing cleaning the shop.
ugh ds is getting dressed asap because dh told him but with me.......nag nag nag.
chili for dinner and maybe a meeting but haven't heard yet.
good luck with the stopping of drinking Pamelaw! maybe out of sight out of mind? does that work for you?

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
Prayers to you Pamelaw for courage! Change is hard but can be so freeing.
We had a nice at-home 4th of July. No traveling for us. Dh and our dog are headed to Univ. of Missouri-Columbia. We are boarding her for a month while she has treatment for her cancer. He is doing a round-trip today. It's 6 hours one way so he left at 6 this morning, will drop her off around noon and after meeting with her vet and the students, will head home. Long day for him. Since the boys are out of daycare for the summer, I hired a college girl to babysit. My mother in law is taking family to the airport today so couldn't help watch the boys. Cool day, plans are to go to the park or zoo (summer pass) and maybe the library.
Dinner tonight will be tacos. I have the fixins and easy for me to make for the boys. No other money out for me. DH has cash for gas and I packed a sandwich and chips for his lunch. He may have to get dinner on the way home or may just wait and eat at 8:00 tonight. He has enough cash if he needs to stop.
My dad and I split a side of beef. Hormone and steroid free black angus. We had steak on Friday and it was sooooo goooood. DH and I paid for the butchering and wrapping and 2 days in the meat locker. Dad paid for the beef but bartered some legal work for it so not actually sure what it cost. I'm interested in cost per pound but feel like it's none of my business what dad did/did not pay, LOL. Anyway, we got about 80 lbs for $187. Fifty lbs of hamburger and the rest is stew meat, roasts, cubed steak, sirloin and other steaks. I think we have some liver, too. We ate the TBones over the weekend. We bought a small chest freezer and filled it right up! By small, I mean 5 cubic feet. So not super big but it held all the beef. And more importantly, the freezer fits in our basement, lol.
Take care everyone!

Re: July 6 $$$ Stretching
Well I feel awful now. I'm all clogged up. I've been coughing like crazy.
We've rescheduled our supper plans.
I will eat at home today.
I believe that I'll go back to bed for part of the afternoon. Aurora has been looking at me with her beautiful blue eyes as if to say that I need to go back to bed and take care of myself.
I may have picked up something when I was at the nursing home on Friday. One of the nurses called in sick today and she was working on Friday.
Happiness is knowing that I have food in the house.
