Hi,
Well, I've been lurking so long I thought I should get on here finally :)
My name's Tara and I live in NW British Columbia with my wonderful husband and two much loved beasties (dogs). We're in our mid-late 20's.
As my husband and I are in mining/forestry respectively I've really gotten into debt killing mode in the last two years as a downturn was inevitable and here we are! I'm happy to say I've paid off my 2007 car loan a few months ago and my husband has nearly killed off his (thought he had, but bad suprise at the dealership grr..). So we're down to our very reasonable mortgage and are now focusing on that and savings. Having been focusing so hard on debt killing, I really have no sig. savings so that's my main goal right now as we're looking at a very slow year work wise. But still, good to have much lower payments right? :) I'm so grateful that my husband is really starting to get on the same page with the household finances. He wasn't ever bad, just had no idea waht was going on and in turn, didn't really care about tyring to build an emergency fund etc... he runs his own company and is more into the investing-business expanding "big stuff". So I'm really happy that he's begun to focus more on the home front with me. It's nice ot have the support :)
I really like the attitudes on this site and all the great advice. I hope I can get to know you all more and pitch in when I can!
thanks, and hope the weather is as nice where you are! (It's a bit too hot, but really, I shouldn't complain :) )
Cheers,
Tara
