    A Thomas Jefferson Education

One of our members here inquired about this interesting approach to homeschooling. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I read the book a few years ago.  I liked it,.  I know someone who followed this method.  I don't know, her kids didn't read very well at church and the mom's idea  of homeschooling seemed extremely relaxed and the kids were writing journal entries that seemed 2 years behind what my kids where doing in public school.  It seemed more like unschooling.  The mom also suffered from depression so I really don't know how she homeschooled at all.  The kids were super sweet though.

Do you think the children's progress was due to this more so than the methods that go with Thomas Jefferson? From reading the descriptions and reviews, I would have expected children using the system to be reading classics and such.

The same could be said of my children really. We do quite a bit of oral work over written work. My two oldest children find reading and writing to be very large struggles so instead of focusing on that when I want them to retain information, we take a different approach.
