    Re: Comfort Spending

I think shopping can be a comfort thing for some people. My daughter calls shopping "therapy trips". I don't really have to buy something to feel good but getting out of the house and having lunch/dinner out are definitely feel goods for me.

I"m embarrassed to admit this, but I will anyway. I will at times, buy treats when I'm "mad at life," when things have not gone well and I take it personally. I convince myself that I really do deserve better... LOL. (Try telling God that). I don't buy expensive things when I'm in that mood, but I do fritter away a few dollars - expensive ice cream, a pair of shoes I don't really need, something like that.

Chocolate and coffee come into play there for me.

Calgon, take me a waaayyyy! I will spend money on bubble bath, fancy bath soaps, and scented lotions. I have a couple of fragrances at Bath and Body Works that I absolutely love. I have to do it less these days b/c my children will purchase it as Christmas or Birthday gifts. Something I love and I do not have to keep it forever! Wink

And good and beautiful books. A major weakness of mine since childhood.

Chocolate works for me sometimes, too. I don't drink coffee, but specialty teas call to me.

Me, too, but usually only in the categories listed above. I do like good music, too, Pat.

Ah, a cold winter evening, snuggled up under the covers with a good book after having a lovely bubble bath. Pure luxury!

    WhosWho:
And maybe it's not all that bad, if you don't have to buy yourself a Corvette, LOL.  It does take your mind off of dumb stuff.

LOL! No, even in a bad mood, I don't think I'd do that.
