Feeding Large Families Without Breaking the Bank

Having fed nine at one time and in a travel trailer no less, I know the hassle of not only being able to afford healthy foods but also in preparing meals for so many people. I don't have to feed so many anymore and I now have the luxury of a conventional kitchen but an article from Backwoods Home magazine caught my attention. I wanted to share this with those of you who are still spreading the food around the big dinner table.

Whew, those are some BIG ingredient amounts!  Now that I'm no longer cooking for the multitude, I'll have to divide them down to try them.  Jackie's a great cook - it'll be good!  Liz

Large families usually eat in big amounts, LOL!

I don't miss cooking for a horde at all. I prefer cooking for a family but for nine in a small space was a bit too stressful.

Thanks for the article.  I'm saving it for future reference- someone can benefit.  Besides, there are good standard recipes.  I'm glad to read about people who "somehow make room in their hearts, homes, & dinner tables" for family and friends, in a time of need.
