    flea markets

The flea markets and roadside sales will be coming soon.  its a  way for me to save money for things i want for house and yard. one man's junk is another man's treasure.  last year i bought from one vendor about$ 50. worth of country decorations for $8. Does anyone on here save a lot by shopping flea markets?

I have gone to a few flea markets, but honestly have never found anything that is just totally amazing.  I think it's because of where I'm located and because they aren't super popular in my area.  I've had really good luck at church rummage sales and community garage sales though.  Our city puts on a community garage sale about once every 6 months and I always do REALLY well there.  I've also done well at the few church rummage sales that I frequent on a regular basis.  I'm super picky about what we wear and will only wear things that aren't worn or outdated and I still am able to find the majority of what we need by shopping rummage/garage sales and occasionally secondhand stores.

It seems like the flea markets here are either too high priced or nothing but junk (meaning things I'm not interested in!) I always wind up going to garage sales and thrift stores if I'm looking for something.

I feel the same way Pat does. The flea markets here start around Memorial weekend and continue through Columbus day. Those are the same dates our Island population explodes from about 11,000 year round islanders to a whooping 125,000 tourists for 1/2 a year. I stay as far away from the flea markets as I can get. Actually, I try to stay away from everywhere...lol....luckily my work is in a very secluded, private area where no one can have access to, so I don't have to deal with the tourists much....I do enjoy yard sales though....

    Until we Newf again....

I LOVE flea markets.  I find all kinds of odd bits for my crafts and my sewing.  Luckily, I'm working most weekends, so I'm not out there blowing the little cash I have.

Except for the giant Rose Bowl swap meet in Pasadena, Ca most of our smaller ones are more open air markets with permanent vendors selling new cheap stuff, some of which are illegal knock-offs of designer clothing and shoes. They also have quite a few ethnic food vendors. Rarely do they have interesting used things that someone is just trying to make a few dollars on.  Edey
