    NOT SO freecreditreport.com

Please pass the word. I promised that company I would spread the word of the deception and poor 'service'!

I went to the site (the commercials are very catchy and the spokesman is so cute!) knowing it was not really free and was more than willing to pay the $25 to get all three reports and the score. What I did not know is that somewhere in the signup I agreed to some other service with a nine-day trial period. Nine-days? I did not realize until I saw the new, additional charge on my checking account. The trail was explained to me very patiently (as if I'm a moron) but the person on the line. So sorry, Mam, but a refund is simply not possible!. I did shake her up when I told her that I was not even able to print the three reports I paid for and after several statement that I as doing it wrong, which I countered with technical web design terms, she admitted that there is a bug that they are currently working on. However, a refund is simply not possible!

Immediately following the phone call I followed up with an email. The response was that the most effective way to address problems is a call to the customer service line. GGGRRR!

You can get one free report per year from each agency at annualcreditreport.com.  You do have to pay for the scores, though.

This company and its commercial was profiled on a local TV station by the reporter who specializes in Consumer Fraud. At the end of the commercial, there is a fast talking blurb about the real nature of this program except the catchy tune and cute guy are such a distraction that you can barely hear it. Once you actively wait to hear this blurb, you can catch it, but barely. This company has been reported to the FTC.

My dh was charged just for logging onto the site.  I believe the bank removed the charge.
